Business Memo #1 Assignment
This assignment will ask you to draw upon your understanding of rhetorical appeals, and your understanding of the coned format and style required of this particular genre.
You work for the Public Relations department of a company* who has recently received terrible press for making some terrible mistake. Each night on the news, an anchor frowns at the camera and talks about the problems your company is facing and less about what you're doing about it, further tarnishing your company's public image. On late night television, your brand is becoming a punch line Your stock is plummeting. Something needs to be done. The CEO has asked your team for input as to how the company might restore its image. How do you get the country to trust you again?
In a memo to the CEO, offer your recommendations.
NOTE — Because you are assigned to write a memo, you don't need all of the specs you might normally need to consider if you were plotting out an entire ad campaign, for example. The CEO is asking for general ideas, and the memo format should be sufficient for the information s/he is asking of your team.
