SWOT Analysis This research will assess the strengths, weaknesses, threats, and opportunities to starting an automation business within British Columbia, specifically Vancouver Island and Northern. Strengths Minimal personnel: Being a company that operates primarily in an online platform, Simply Flows can work with a skeleton crew. Flexibility: Unlike most companies, Simply Flows has a flexible company structure. It means that it can switch operations among its employees with ease. Benefits of an automated platform: The company enjoys the benefits of automation that streamlines most of its operations. It operates with minimal errors, high accuracy efficiency, and saves time. Even more, it can propagate some of these benefits to most of its clients. Small operation space: One of the difficulties experienced in expansion is renting or building large offices to accommodate your services. However, with Simply Flows, the company does not require big spaces to cater for its operations. It can commence its activities with a small space to accommodate its employees and equipment. Open-minded: Simply Flows is a dynamic company that always tries a few things. It shows innovation and openness to take risks, which will propel it in the new market. It is apparent in the company being the first to operate virtual assistants in the metaverse. Accessible: Being operated as an online entity makes the company easy to access. One must search for its services online and connect with the employees. Less Expensive: The company’s operations are in the metaverse. All it must do is provide the connections between the clients, whether for employee training or meeting up with a professional. Specific fees needed for physical contacts, such as transportation fees, are not a prerequisite. Metaverse with virtual assistants: This term screams innovative. With the right kind of advertising and promotion, it becomes a significant strength to propel its performance. Weaknesses Low acceptability: The hostility towards AI, Machine learning, and automation companies is very high in most countries. People think such companies are inhumane due to their under-reliance on the human touch and bland, redundant systems. It becomes a weakness of the company since it will face low acceptance as it commences operations in Vancouver, considering that small companies abhor AI companies within British Columbia. New company in the market: Simply Flows is not only planning to build a new company, but it is also new to the market itself. It therefore still has a long way to go in aspects such as securing a consumer base, building its brand, and company and product promotion. Being new to the market: The company will be unique to the Canadian market and face some drawbacks of adapting to international trade, such as new laws and brand promotion. Inactive social media: Simply Flows is not big on brand promotion via social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter or even Instagram. In the current market, companies gain a competitive advantage via social media presence, via clicks per minute; Simply Flows simply does not have that. Inexperience: Experience is a very fundamental part of the artistry. Most companies will rather have experienced employees than highly learned employees. However, Simply Flows does not have the kind of stay in the market that comes with experience. The company is barely new, and considering it is the first to operate virtual assistants in the metaverse; it desperately needs experience. Unattractive graphic designs: Website designs determine whether clients will stay longer on a website or leave. Simply Flows should hire a new graphic design team or company to attract many customers. Weak security standards: The company does not have security measures that inspire consumer confidence. With several privacy issues circulating AI usage, having a weak security standard will scare away most clients. Limited in functionality; The company is still in its growth stage. However, operating a data automation system is sub-par for a firm with all the freedom of an online platform. It should attempt to expand operations beyond that and always try a new way to enter new markets. Opportunities Big companies’ growing usage of AI: According to Martin (2019), large accounting firms within British Columbia (BC) consistently adopt data automation for most repetitive tasks. Even though Simply Flows is not suited to serve large businesses, this move by the big companies is forcing most small businesses to adopt the system. Consequently, the automation market will rise. The bright side of Covid-19: After the pandemic that affected the entire world, most companies realised that they should use automated systems to lower the spread of the diseases due to contact. Most hospitals and companies in Canada have opted for data automation for their plans (Blit, 2020). When employees leave, these operations to be carried out become difficult, thereby necessitating companies that want to quicken processes to automate. The attractive benefits of automation: Data automation has become increasingly and unstoppable popular within the BC market. The benefits are transparent; low labor costs, reduced human errors, higher efficiency, automated work allocation, and so much more. They create the propulsion for most companies to seek data automation, which will benefit Simply Flows. Improvisation on security standards: Simply Flows can customize its security measures to be above or on par with more prominent companies in the market. It can perform a market benchmark or hire a creative team to ensure that clients receive highly secure services. Introducing more secure technologies: The company can create alliances with more prominent companies that can offer more security on data privacy or, as previously highlighted, hire a creative team that makes the platform more secure. With Canada’s privacy issues, clients will feel safer with specific technologies in place. Virtual assistants in the metaverse: This was the best idea for the company. It is intuitive and feels close to real-time meetings except with more privacy. If it goes into the BC market with such a unique service, it will garner a lot of consumers. Emerging technologies: Being a company in the technology market will make it more evocative by having their hands on such devices. Suddenly, it will get more clients thrilled with the prospect of encountering something better and consequently enhance the company’s performance. Introduce Amazon Web System: The company can introduce cloud computing services to their operations to tap into other opportunities in Iaas, PaaS and SaaS. Support for new businesses in BC: BC is welcoming new businesses in the area. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, BC closed new businesses’ market entry (“British Columbia: Entrepreneur Immigration”, 2021). However, the company always welcomes new business to the market on normal operations. It will positively affect the operations of Simply Flows. Google ads and LinkedIn ads: The current marketing strategy for all growing and existing companies comprise ads. As previously highlighted, Simply Flows is down on social media presence. The company can invest more finances in this marketing trend, improving its scalability about the number of clients. Email marketing: Sending emails to clients and potential clients can improve its market scale. Sending provides a personal feel and connects with the clients instead of other social media platforms. They will improve customer retention and gain even more clients if performed on a large scale. Threats Canadian laws: Starting a business within British Columbia, especially an AI-related international company, could prove to be hectic. Also, considering that the laws are not yet fully set, the company might face some fallback from changes in the law if it is not fully adapted. Growing local market: The Canadian market on data automation is quickly growing with more companies entering the market (Hodgett et al., 2021). The growth is due to intensive research and development, other key developments, and finance from the private and local sectors. These aspects of the market mean that Vancouver’s automation industry is on an upward trend, and market entry at this moment will mean facing stiff competition from local distributors. Poor reputation: The report suggests that data automation disrupts most accounting firms operating within British Columbia. It poses a threat to the business as convincing the small business owners to work with Simply Flows will be difficult. Currency fluctuations: Considering that the business is planning to expand to Vancouver, it will be affected by the fluctuating Canadian dollar (CAD). A report from Reuters by Norland shows that the value of the CAD against the USD has fluctuated by wide margins in the past 40 years (Norland, 2020). The fluctuations at times rise by about 10% and fall up to 37% (Norland, 2020). The company will be exposed to these fluctuations by operating in two countries, affecting its operations. Data safety: new technologies constantly threaten the safety of the data stored in the cloud, making them susceptible to cyberattacks. Consequently, the clients are always worried about losing their data to competitors and that some of the sensitive information could land in the wrong hands. Stiff competition: The company can comeuppance some stiff competition in BC. It could have adverse effects on its operations, leading to a loss in operations and employee burnouts. The products provided by the employees could then be low quality due to stress and exhaustion. Conservative market nature: Simply Flows is introducing a new product. Not only is it trying to sell clients on data automation, which is still unknown, but it is also attempting to bring in the idea of the metaverse. Most people are already hostile towards AI usage, and introducing another aspect of a new product will be a hard sell for the firm. References Kim, D. (2021, July 2).
