The organization should focus on improving the leadership behaviors of Model the Way and Enable Others to Act to improve the work environment based on my assessment. Model the Way: Trends from the employee survey reflected that employees felt a lack of trust in their supervisors. When a leaders values are unclear and their actions do not align to the shared values of the company or values they are promoting, a lack of trust will grow between leadership and associates. Integrity is a key skill to leadership I would recommend for the leadership toolkit. Ensuring leaders show integrity, that they are aligned with their stated values, and that actions align to their values, will promote trust in not only the leadership, but the organization. Modeling the Way is a key leadership behavior to turn around the discouraging employee survey results that indicate employees do not have trust in leadership. Improvements to this leadership skill will improve the overall organizational performance as employees who trust their leadership are more likely to buy into the organizations values and goals. Employee buy in boosts morale, which boosts employees desire to develop their skillsets, which can ultimately lead to increase production. Enable Others to Act: The employee survey also reflects that many employees feel underused and underappreciated. These employees have an internal drive and the ability to do more than they are currently taking on at work. I recommend the leader’s toolkit include the skill of coaching and mentoring. If a top performer does not see a path forward to develop and grow, they will become discouraged by these feelings of underappreciation and underuse, and the company may lose talent. By ensuring leadership demonstrates the behaviors of Enable Others to Act, and they build relationships and trust with their teams and further use those relationships to mentor and develop team members, the company and employees both win. The company can retain and foster top talent, building for their future, and the employee can grow and develop their skill set, increasing their happiness and work and future career prospects with the company.
