“The purpose of the second draft,” as the instructions note, “to continue drafting your academic argumentative research paper.” You need to “three to four body paragraphs according to the form that is explained in lesson 3: The Body Paragraphs.’” In general, I think that this is a good draft. Your ongoing attempts to create a more direct, concise style are beginning to pay off. I think, though, that your argument needs more development. As I noted, you need a more assertive thesis. You define the problem well but you have much too little to say about the solution. There’s no one solution, of course! However, given the scope of the problem of violence against women, and the impact it has, individually, socially, and economically, do you think this issue should be one of the highest priorities of our foreign policy? I think you should think of your audience as people who don’t know much about this problem. They may believe that these problems don’t have much impact on our economy, for example. How can you convince these readers to change their minds? In any case, you use APA correctly although I also think that you could draw on your research more effectively to make your argument stronger and more persuasive. Your goals now should be to continue to work on making your style more concise and your argument more credible and persuasive. Make sure to read my comments and let me know if you have any questions.
