I assume that a linear programming application could assist my organization in developing a staffing business method. Since I believe we are overstaffed with underqualified workers, I believe this is an atmosphere that my workplace can improve. Those who are eligible, however, can find their workload to be daunting as a result of this. The target would be to cut operating costs by making sure there is enough staff on hand to fulfill consumer demands without losing customer service. One limitation would be the restriction of overtime. If employees are active at work, the need for overtime can be limited, and this restriction ensures that operating costs are kept low. Obviously, there is more to this problem than hiring, but using a linear programming model to calculate the correct number of qualified employees is a good place to start. Further research would be needed to ensure that staff are well trained and educated, allowing for a more uniformly distributed workload.
